Beaches and Bays

Our beautiful coastline stretches from Pegwell Bay in the south to Reculver in the north and takes in 15 sandy beaches and bays. This year we are celebrating being awarded 9 Blue Flags and 1 Quality Coast Awards.

Our Beaches and Bays leaflet will tell you all you need to know from which beaches are the best for family fun, which are the best for activities and where to go to ‘get away from it all'.

There are details on the Thanet Coast Project and all the great events and activities they organise, including walks with the Rock Doc and seashore safaris - there's just so much to discover. Plus information on the Viking Coastal Trail, one of the most attractive leisure cycle routes in Kent.

New for this year is a great 'Beach within reach' scheme. If you are a wheelchair user or have limited mobility, the following beaches and bays have beach wheelchairs you can use - West Bay Westgate, Margate Main Sands, Viking Bay and Ramsgate Main Sands
